I'm going to have a hard time with it because my staples in life are chips and candy. I suck! So, I'm going to make small improvements.
One of the things she said that I particularly liked was this...
"My idea of clean eating is asking myself if the food I’m about to eat is going to do anything for me nutritionally. If the answer is no, I don’t eat it."
So that's what I'm going to try to ask myself every time I reach for the M&M's or chips!
So Swedish fish and cinnamon rolls don't really work either? Dang it.
ReplyDeleteI mostly shop on the perimeter of the store too ... produce, dairy, seafood, bulk nuts. But SNACKS are killing us. Lots of packaged/granola/cracker type stuff. The recipes in that post look so good. I'm going to try a few and see how much the kids complain. I guess they don't eat half of what I make anyways (except Matt) so I might as well. Yum.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ki
Im dying with no added sugar or candy. I noticed she said 'some fruits' but lots of veggies.
ReplyDeleteshe also said a little bit of dark chocolate every day :) I've heard that your body totally craves the sugar for a few days, then it gets better. I should try that too.
ReplyDeleteI think her "clean eating" is a little more harsh than what I'd ever do. Her clean eating is more of a fitness freak clean eating - more protein, less carbs. I say go for the healthier side of it, healthy carbs and fruit are OK in my book. and DEFINITELY dark chocolate
